Studio

A small studio with twenty years of range.

Wise Mountain is founder-led on purpose. We take on fewer projects so every one gets the full weight of our attention — and you always know exactly who's doing the work.

How We Think

We learned our craft in places where “good enough” doesn't ship — game studios where a millisecond of input lag gets noticed and a single frame of animation gets debated. We bring that standard to everything we build, whether it's a county news platform or a node-based image editor.

The tools keep changing. The job doesn't: understand the people you're building for, sweat the details they'll feel but never see, and leave every project sturdier than anyone asked it to be.

Will Waltz, founder of Wise Mountain

The Founder

Will Waltz

Will is a creative technologist with 20+ years spanning web development, game studios, advertising, and interactive experiences. He's been building for the web since he was 14, when he started his first business, Floating Point.

From there, Will worked as a webmaster at his local ISP, then part-time through college building and maintaining sites for a PCB prototype and manufacturing company. After school, he landed at an advertising agency in SoHo, NYC, where he handled web development and IT — and learned the sales and marketing instincts that still drive the copy and strategy behind every project today.

Will's career then moved into AAA game development, with contributions to the Halo franchise — including Halo Infinite — principal animation and direction work, and involvement in Valve Corporation's inaugural Vive VR headset launch. He's led teams through conceptual consulting, experiential pre-visualization, character design, and performance capture work for both Unreal Engine and proprietary systems. Along the way, he's worked with companies like Bungie, Microsoft / 343 Industries, Valve, Brave, and Outside Magazine to name a few.

Wise Mountain is the culmination of all of it — web roots, marketing know-how, and game-studio craftsmanship channeled into one studio. The result: software that doesn't just work — it feels alive in your hands.

Our Process

No surprises. No hand-waving. Here's how it actually works.

1

Listen First

We dig into your business, your users, and what success actually looks like — before we open a code editor.

2

Think, Then Build

Architecture and user flows get mapped out first. It costs nothing to change a plan. Changing code costs real money.

3

Iterate in the Open

You see real progress every week — working demos, not slide decks. We adjust course based on what you see, not what we guess.

4

Ship & Grow

Launch is where the real work starts. We stick around to optimize, maintain, and evolve what we built together.

What We Believe

Craft Over Speed

Rushed code is expensive code. We take the time to build things right — so you don't pay twice to fix what someone else shipped too fast.

Transparent by Default

No black boxes. You see real progress every week, understand every decision, and shape the direction at every step.

Built to Last

We pick technologies and patterns that will serve you for years, not months. Your codebase should be an asset, not a liability.

Partnership, Not Projects

We're invested in your outcome, not just the deliverable. Your success is our success, long after launch day.

Got something interesting?

We're always looking for ambitious projects with people who care about the details as much as we do.
