Backer Terms Agreement
Last updated: March 6, 2026
Thank you for considering backing a Wise Mountain project. Your support directly funds the engineering, design, and infrastructure that bring these products to life. Before you pledge, please read these terms carefully so you understand exactly what your contribution means — what we promise, what we don't, and how we'll treat your trust.
1. What You're Doing
When you back a Wise Mountain project, you are making a financial contribution to support the development of software that is currently in progress. This is not a traditional purchase. You are pledging toward a product that does not yet exist in its final form.
Your payment is processed immediately via Stripe. All transactions are in USD.
2. What We Promise
- Alpha build access. Every backer receives access to alpha builds of the product they backed, as soon as those builds are available. Alpha software may be incomplete, unstable, or missing features — that's the nature of early access.
- A voice in development. Backers can provide direct feedback that shapes the product. We read every piece of feedback and use it to guide priorities, features, and direction.
- Transparency. We will keep backers informed of development progress, milestones, and any significant changes to the project's scope or timeline.
- Honest communication. If a project faces serious obstacles, delays, or changes in direction, we will tell you directly — not bury it.
- A free copy at launch. If the product you backed reaches public release as a paid product, your backer contribution entitles you to a free copy. You will not be charged again.
3. What We Do Not Promise
- Completion is not guaranteed. Software development is inherently uncertain. Despite our best efforts and genuine commitment to shipping, it is possible that some or all of these projects may not be completed, fully launched, or released in the form originally described. Circumstances including but not limited to technical challenges, resource constraints, shifting market conditions, or unforeseen obstacles may affect a project's outcome.
- Timelines are estimates. Delivery dates listed on the Live Products page are our best current estimates. They are not binding commitments. Development timelines may shift as we learn, iterate, and refine.
- Features may change. The feature lists and descriptions on the Live Products page represent our current vision for each product. Features may be added, removed, modified, or re-prioritized during development based on technical feasibility, user feedback, and product direction.
- This is not an investment. Backing a project does not entitle you to equity, revenue share, intellectual property rights, or any ownership stake in Wise Mountain or its products.
4. Backer Tiers
Each project offers three contribution levels: Supporter ($10), Backer ($25), and Champion ($50). All tiers receive the same core benefits — alpha access, feedback privileges, and a free copy at launch. The difference is the level of financial support you choose to provide.
You may back a project more than once and at any tier. Each contribution is cumulative and deeply appreciated.
5. Refund Policy
Because backer contributions fund active development work that begins immediately, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact us at will@theskyfolk.com.
If Wise Mountain decides to permanently cancel a project that has received backer funding, we will offer full refunds to all backers of that project.
6. Privacy
We collect your email address through Stripe at the time of payment. We use this solely to deliver alpha access, development updates, and launch notifications related to the product you backed. We will not sell, share, or use your email for unrelated marketing.
7. The Spirit of This Agreement
We are a small, independent studio building software we believe in. We don't have venture capital or corporate backing — your support is what makes these projects possible. We take that seriously.
We will always act in good faith, communicate honestly about progress and setbacks, and do everything within our power to deliver on the vision that earned your trust. If you back one of our projects, you're not just a customer — you're part of how it gets built.
