Senior animation across narrative cinematics, character performance, and first-person viewmodel systems — with leadership over the FPS animation pipeline that defined how the game felt in players' hands.
The Challenge
Halo 5 introduced squad-based gameplay and a dual-protagonist narrative, requiring a dramatic expansion of character animation, cinematic scope, and first-person weapon systems — all while maintaining the precise, responsive feel Halo players expect from the franchise's combat.
Our Solution
Will served as Senior Animator with a focus on narrative animation, character animation, and conceptual animation — while taking on leadership of the viewmodel (FPS) animation pipeline. Viewmodel animation is what the player sees every second of gameplay: weapon handling, reloads, melee attacks, and ability activations. Leading this pipeline meant defining the moment-to-moment feel of the game.
