Siskiyou Community App

The Challenge

Siskiyou County spans over 6,000 square miles of rural Northern California with 13+ small communities, and there was no single place to find local news, government updates, or events. Residents relied on scattered Facebook groups, outdated county websites, and word of mouth. Information about everything from board of supervisors meetings to farmers markets was fragmented or simply missing.

Our Solution

We built a cross-platform community app prototype that aggregates hyperlocal news, government transparency data (meeting agendas, minutes, live updates from county supervisors and city councils), and a unified community calendar — all organized by town. The centerpiece is Walter, a 24/7 local guide who can answer questions about events, summarize the latest news, and recommend local businesses with the knowledge of someone who's actually lived there. Currently seeking launch funding as of 2026.
